The stream of Widespread Panic archival content continued to flow on Monday with footage of “Barstools and Dreamers” from 10/15/10 in Oakland, CA. This latest clip follows previously-released videos of “Chilly Water“, “Diner“, and “Chainsaw City” from WSP’s first of two shows at the Fox Theater.

This upload comes as the latest in a flurry of content from the Athens, GA bred blues-jam outfit. The past few weeks have seen the band present clips from its 2002 documentaryconcert filmsvintage TV appearancesinterviews, and much more.

This run through the live staple from the band’s 1991 self-titled sophomore album kicks off with a funky bass-slapping introduction courtesy of Dave Schools. The first minute of the song appears like a slow zoom into a hazy, smoke-filled honky-tonk packed with the titular “Barstools and Dreamers”. As frontman John Bell implores us to “take another pull, take another pull,” Jimmy Herring leaves the song a smoking crater much like the cigarette flaming out in the ashtray atop his amplifier.

Even as Herring lays down blistering note after blistering note, Schools’ pungent bass plucking simultaneously remains at the forefront of the mix. While the non-percussive players pound out the final few notes, drummer Todd Nance and percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz lay the groundwork for the impending “Drums” segment to follow.
