Yusuf/Cat Stevens has released his latest studio album, on which the veteran singer-songwriter reimagines 1970’s Tea For The Tillerman in honor of its 50th anniversary this year. Appropriately titled Tea For The Tillerman 2, the album is out today on all streaming platforms via Cat-O-Log Records/UMe.

The 2020 take on Tea For The Tillerman hears new recordings of “Father and Son”, “Where Do The Children Play?”, and “On The Road To Find Out”, which have all been shared over the past few weeks. To recapture the spirit and energy as heard in the original Tea for the Tillerman sessions, Yusuf reconnected with the album’s original producer Paul Samwell-Smith for the 2020 edition, which was recorded last summer.

“When some people have lost the spiritual link to their lives, music can play an important part,” Yusuf said with the album’s announcement earlier this summer. “So from that point of view, I think that the sentiments from the album are incredibly important to us today. It shows that there are human beings still around. That’s important.”
