Nathaniel Rateliff has shared a new music video for “Time Stands”, which initially arrived as the final single from his 2020 album, And It’s Still Alright. The release follows three previous And It’s Still Alright music videos, “All Or Nothing“, “What A Drag“, and the title track.

Directed by Rett Rogers, the music video for “Time Stands” provides a unique perspective on the world. Filmed with a drone camera during quarantine as billions engage in social distancing, the video begins with an overhead shot of a city. As the video progresses, “Time Stands” takes the viewer on a journey through beaches, forests, plains, city centers, highways, and mountains.
Rogers filmed in many different countries, including the U.S., Brazil, Scotland, Nigeria, and Japan, and they all had one thing in common. They were empty. Whether it was the commercial district of Tokyo, a highway in California or the plains of Nigeria, evident was the absence of humans. This perspective complemented the song well, as themes of loneliness and desolation are present on the song and album as a whole. Rateliff was also absent in the video, as he only appeared once, in the final shot, standing in the foreground of a picturesque mountainous landscape.
