Following the band’s debut at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Goose continued on to Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday to conclude leg one of the band’s spring tour with a single outdoor show at Avondale Brewing Company.

The energy was electric as Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach, Trevor Weekz, Ben Atkind, and Jeff Arevalo opened set one with “Yeti” and a fast version of “Echo of a Rose”, followed by “California Magic”, “Earthling or Alien?”, and a cover of the Grateful Dead‘s “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo” that flowed into “So Ready” to close the set.

Set two began with a cover of “Fish in the Sea” by Fat Freddy’s Drop and included slow-building jams in “SOS” and “Animal”, which also featured “Fish in the Sea” teases from Rick. “A Western Sun” and “726” broke up the jam-heavy set, each clocking in at under ten minutes. A “Dripfield” of cosmic proportions capped off the set before the band returned to end the night with a sticky-sweet “Butter Rum” encore.

Goose reveled in the crowd’s enthusiasm throughout the night and took to social media after the show to thank the audience. “Birmingham!! Y’all brought the stuff!” the band wrote. “Some the hottest energy we’ve seen this tour. Gonna keep us feeling good til the next leg! ⚡️ Thank you to everyone for what had been an unbelievable first half to the Spring. Love y’all! ❤️
