Goose has announced a summer 2024 tour featuring some of the Connecticut-based jam-rock quintet’s largest headlining shows to date. The news follows Monday’s announcement that drummer Cotter Ellis has joined the group as the replacement for founding member Ben Atkind, with whom the band parted ways in late 2023. The band has also released a new compilation, Ted Tapes 2024, an album of improvised live recordings captured during Goose’s earliest sessions with Ellis.

“I first saw Cotter play with his band Swimmer at Nectar’s some years ago,” said guitarist/vocalist Rick Mitarotonda of the band’s new drummer. “I was sitting solo at one of the bar tables right in front of the stage with the PA ripping. The set was awesome, they’re all fantastic players and I was taken with the buoyant energy and how much fun they were having. Something had me glued to the drums though. His pocket and feel were gripping. He really told a story with his playing that night. It was an experience that always stuck with me.”

Ellis will hit the road with Goose beginning at neo-Summer Camp festival Solshine Reverie over Memorial Day weekend. The new-look quintet will kick off its summer headlining campaign from there with a two-night stint at St. Louis, MO’s The Factory (6/4, 6/5) and a pair of shows at Greenwood Village, CO’s Fiddler’s Green (6/7, 6/8). Following a string of one-offs at major theaters, amphitheaters, and more including Omaha, NE’s Steelhouse (6/10), Kansas City, MO’s The Midland (6/11), Indianapolis, IN’s Everwise Amphitheater (6/12), Swanzey, NH’s Northlands Music Festival (6/14), Canandaigua, NY’s CMAC (6/15), Cleveland, OH’s Jacobs Pavilion (6/16), and Raleigh, NC’s Red Hat Amphitheatre (6/18), Goose will set up shop at Atlanta, GA’s Fox Theatre for a three-night run (6/20–6/22).

After moving along to Charlotte, NC’s Skyla Amphitheatre (6/23) and Portland, ME’s Thompson’s Point (6/25, 6/26), Goose will round out the tour with performances at notable venues in the Northeast including Philadelphia, PA’s Mann Center (6/28), New York, NY’s Forest Hills Stadium (6/29), and a hometown performance at New Haven, CT’s Westville Music Bowl (6/30). Additional dates are due to be added to the 2024 Goose summer tour schedule soon.

A ticket pre-sale lottery for all newly announced dates is currently open through Saturday, February 10th at 5 p.m. ET. VIP and Travel Package pre-sales begin Wednesday, February 7th at 10 a.m. local venue time. Lottery winners will be charged and notified via email by the evening of Thursday, February 15th. In addition to announcing the tour, Goose has shared Ted Tapes 2024, the new improvisational album that the group has been teasing on social media via cryptic audiovisual clips. As the band explained of Ted Tapes 2024 in a statement ahead of its release, “Each of the nine tracks on Ted Tapes 2024 are different improvisational moments from early sessions with Cotter. They were recorded solely for the purpose of reference, not intended for any kind of release. The instruments and microphones were rigged up quickly, and the playing was raw and free from any expectations. The first track, Leo, is the opening pick up jam from the first session, the first notes ever played together. There were some consistent threads we all felt in the room throughout these early sessions; ease of communication, freely flowing ideas, and a feeling of effortlessness moving through different zones. We experienced a patience that allowed all our personalities to come out and energy to well up in new ways.”
