Goose broke its silence for the first time since announcing the departure of drummer Ben Atkind with three posts teasing a possible new release and an Instagram story suggesting an announcement date of February 6th.

The mysterious videos feature abstract symbols, psychedelic imagery, and audio from two different instrumental jams. Rick Mitarotonda‘s guitar soars above Peter Anspach‘s keyboards and Trevor Weekz‘s bass, and the drumming is powerful and spontaneous. Due to the cryptic nature of the clips, it is unclear whether they feature Atkind or a new recruit.

Fans continue to speculate who the group will name as its replacement for Atkind, who was behind the kit from the time the band formed in 2014 up until Goosemas 2023.

Supposing new music is on the way, it would mark Goose’s first studio release since the band’s surprise 2023 EP, Autumn Crossing. The group’s last full-length studio album, Dripfield, was released back in 2022. The band has also released five live albums since then, including Live at Radio City Music Hall.

Check out the three videos posted by Goose teasing a possible new release below, and stay tuned for updates and announcements from the band. Goose is scheduled to perform at the inaugural Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie in Chillicothe, IL in May and at Northlands Music & Arts Festival in Swanzey, NH in June.
