The latest live Grateful Dead video from the band’s recently-launched “All The Years Live” series is now available through the band’s official YouTube page. The new video features “Big Boss Man” from June 16th, 1990 at Mountain View, CA’s Shoreline Amphitheatre.

As the band’s official archivist David Lemieux explains in the video’s description, “A staple of the Pigpen-era Grateful Dead, ‘Big Boss Man’ departed the repertoire when Pigpen departed the stage in 1972. Although it returned in 1981 for 15 performances over the next 15 years, it was sadly never incorporated into the setlist on a full time basis. This penultimate version features a gnarly lead vocal by Jerry.”

This 1990 Shoreline Amphitheatre show, which was the second performance of a three-night run, is featured on the Grateful Dead’s 2002 video release, View From The Vault, Volume Three. The Dead regularly performed “Big Boss Man” over 40 times between 1969 and 1972. The Ron “Pigpen” McKernan-penned tune returned in 1981 and was played on occasion through 1995.
