As Tedeschi Trucks noted in a post announcing the event, “LOCKN’ has a special place in the band’s history and we’re excited for the next chapter this Summer!”
Tedeschi Trucks Band has been a staple of LOCKN’ Festival since its inception, often welcoming special guests for one-off themed sets. Most recently, in 2019, Tedeschi Trucks Band welcomed Trey Anastasio and Doyle Bramhall II to recreate Derek and the Dominos‘ Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs at LOCKN’ 2019. The set will soon be released as a live album, Layla Revisited.

The announcement of the 2021 LOCKN’ Farm Tedeschi Trucks weekend joins a pair of other mini-fest announcements from LOCKN’ organizers on Wednesday. In addition to the TTB-centric weekend, LOCKN’ Farm will also host a Joe Russo’s Almost Dead weekend featuring The Slip and Billy Martin & John Medeski (8/13–8/15) and a Goose weekend billed as Fred The Festival featuring Dawes, Cory Wong, Dr. Dog, and a number of Goose-adjacent acts (8/20–22).
The pivot from one larger, four-day festival to three smaller, three-day festivals came as a result of the rapidly-developing pandemic picture for concerts in the summer of 2021.
As LOCKN’ organizers Dayglo Presents explained in a statement,
We have had an amazing seven years together at LOCKN’ the music festival, with hundreds of thousands of fans from across the world witnessing countless epic performances and collaborations by hundreds of legendary artists, and a lot of fun along the way. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, LOCKN’ has created some of the most beautiful and magical live music memories.
In this moment, considering the challenges of COVID-19, we feel like it’s time to do something different, something intimate, something new. While preserving the spirit of our four-day festival, LOCKN’ will become a destination — LOCKN’ Farm — staying true to the core of what LOCKN’ has always been about — unforgettable, unique, and authentic live experiences.
