Neal Francis shared a new music video for “Say Your Prayers” to his YouTube page on Friday. The song initially appeared on his latest album, In Plain Sight, which arrived on November 5th via ATO Records.

This latest offering marks the fourth In Plain Sight music video, following the lead single “Can’t Stop The Rain“, September’s nightmarish “Alameda Apartments“, and November’s doctor’s office dance party, “Problems“.

For the “Say Your Prayers” video, drummer Collin O’Brien compiled a stop motion-style montage of photos snapped throughout 2021. Viewers see the multi-hyphenate musician in a variety of places and situations, from standing on stage at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO to soaking in the sun at a beachside getaway and a trip to a Chicago bowling alley. The video also depicts Francis and his fellow band members hiking mountains, exploring local eateries across the country, and practicing for shows and enjoying a lakeside vacation.

Musically, the song highlights Francis at his best. He delivers serene vocals backed by Carlile, Allie Bradford, Tramaine Parker, and Brandon Lampkin. His lyrical content invokes a meditative approach to pushing through periods of depression, compelling the listener to “Take time/Say your prayers/Take time/Soon the morning will be there.”

Underneath the lush vocals are layers of piano, ranging from more traditional sounding keys to expansive lines from a synthesizer. Bassist Mike Starr and drummer Collin O’Brien create a headstrong rhythm section while guitarist Kellen Boersma slots in and links up with Francis’ piano melodies. The track teems with funk, soul, and R&B influences while engaging the listener throughout its 4:20 runtime. Watch the latest Neal Francis music video, “Say Your Prayers”, via the player below.
