Less than two weeks after sharing a retro-inspired video for The Slow Rush track “Is It True”, Tame Impala has released a remix of the song, produced by English musician Four Tet.

Ever since sharing The Slow Rush back in February, Kevin Parker‘s brainchild Tame Impala has been met with widespread critical acclaim. Despite worldwide quarantines and pandemic responses, Parker has kept himself busy promoting the album with COVID-19 benefits, music videos, and even an appearance on Colbert. This “Is It True” remix by Four Tet further highlights the global reach Parker has achieved over the past decade.

When compared to the original, Four Tet’s remix of “Is It True” is much more ambient. Where Parker’s original is much more funk-centric, Four Tet stretches and twists the composition, truly making it his own. Aside from the elongated intro which teases the listener for a minute before introducing percussion and vocals, the synth work gives his remix a more open and experimental feel. Four Tet also adds in some nature sounds, almost as if distorting the chirps of birds, which adds an interesting element not present on the original.
