The song, from Anastasio’s 2007 album The Horseshoe Curve, sees Cyro Baptista in full force, supplying the auxiliary percussion that accentuates the song’s driving rhythm, following a serious bout with the flu earlier this tour. The whole band is audibly present as the song builds to a crescendo, only to gently roll back and allow James Casey to shine on baritone saxophone. The stage lighting even simplifies until Trey and Casey are the only ones illuminated as they enter into a musical conversation with their respective instruments and continue to build up again, only for the band to join back in for the song’s lone lyrics, “burlap sack and pumps” to close the tune.
