Twiddle continues to prove that Distance Makes The Heart as the band announces the return of its curated Tumble Down festival. After four years away, the Vermont jam quartet will reactivate Tumble Down at a new site in New York’s Apple Valley on September 22nd and 23rd, bringing along Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Andy Frasco & The U.N., Dopapod, and others. The announcement comes in the midst of Twiddle’s Distance Makes The Heart Tour, which precedes an impending indefinite hiatus.

A staple of Waterfront Park in Twiddle’s native Burlington for four years, Tumble Down fell prey to the pandemic in 2020, with Twiddle staging a pared-down Double Down gathering at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction, VT in 2021. For the festival’s return, Tumble Down will find its new home at LaFayette, NY’s Wonderland Forest. The sprawling 500-acre site 15 minutes south of Syracuse will hold its inaugural concerts later this month on July 28th and 29th with a Summer Jam 50 celebration hosted by Dark Star Orchestra, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, and The Weight Band. A long way from the Burlington waterfront, Tumble Down’s new location features natural landscapes of forests, waterfalls, ponds, and scenic vistas.

Also set to join in the fifth installment of Tumble Down are rising jam quartet Dogs In A Pile, Twiddle drummer Adrian Tramotano‘s band The Breakfast, Baked Shrimp, and Mike Powell. In addition to performing four sets with Twiddle, frontman Mihali will also stage a solo performance showcasing his growing independent catalog. Tumble Down previously served as an opportunity for Twiddle to welcome illustrious Vermonters to the stage, including previous guests Page McConnell (Phish) and Senator Bernie Sanders.

This news comes as Twiddle continues to extend its Distance Makes The Heart Tour, after which the band will go on an extended hiatus after 18 years of touring. Recently, Twiddle announced its final pre-hiatus Colorado show at Denver’s Mission Ballroom with support from Melt, set for November 11th.

Tickets for Tumble Down 2023 go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. ET here. For tickets and a full list of Twiddle tour dates visit the band’s website.
