Proto-Goose outfit Vasudo has released its long-awaited debut LP, Call It Louis. The six-track album is out digitally now, with vinyl releases set to follow in November.
Vasudo features Matt Campbell (vocals, keys) in addition to Goose bandmates Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar), Peter Anspach (vocals, keys), Jeffrey Arevalo (drums, percussion), and Trevor Weekz (bass). The quintet previewed Call It Louis with the release of its debut single, “Blood“.
Call It Louis was recorded last summer at Dreamland Recording Studios in Woodstock, NY. For Vasudo’s debut outing, the band enlisted engineer Ariel Shafir, whose extensive resume features work with everyone from Lake Street Dive to The Roots.
Vasudo has not performed live since 2013, long before Goose attained the kind of household recognition it now controls in the live music arena. Vasudo will make its highly anticipated return to the stage next month at the Goose-curated Fred The Festival at LOCKN’ Farm.
Though Goose continues to rise to further and further heights, recent weeks have seen renewed activities in the members’ side projects, including Anspach’s pre-Goose band Great Blue who stuck around Denver after Goose’s two-night run at Sculpture Park for an intimate show at Black Buzzard on July 16th.
This month also brought a new LP from Goose drummer Ben Atkind‘s ElephantProof, which also features keyboardist Chris Enright, who served as Anspach’s predecessor in Goose. ElephantProof is also set to make its triumphant return to the stage at Fred.
