In a long list of creative marketing strategies to promote the band’s forthcoming Gigaton album, Pearl Jam has announced a hotline that will allow fans to preview the record ahead of its March 27th release. Fans who call 585-20-PEARL (585-207-3275) will have a chance to hear songs other than the previously released singles “Dance of the Clairvoyants” and “Superblood Wolfmoon”.

“Hello, you’ve reached the Pearl Jam Gigaton hotline. Press 1 to leave a message. Press 2 to opt in to receive updates from the band and preview the new album before it’s out on March 27th,” the hotline says.

This new hotline has seemingly replaced the global listening event Pearl Jam had planned for the album, which the band canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has forced global quarantines and shelter-in-place orders. It also joined a bevy of unique marketing techniques Pearl Jam has employed ahead of the album. After announcing the band’s first studio effort since 2013’s Lightning Bolt and releasing the album’s first single, “Dance of the Clairvoyants”, conventionally, Pearl Jam debuted another song, “River Cross”, as part of a Verizon Super Bowl commercial. Then, following the announcement of a special performance at the Apollo Theatre in New York, NY, on March 26th for SiriusXM and Pandora listeners, the band released its latest single, “Superblood Wolfmoon” via an augmented reality app.

Pearl Jam’s next scheduled show will take place on June 23rd at Festhalle in Frankfurt, Germany after the band postponed the North American leg of its 2020 spring tour due to the global crisis. For the latest tour information, head to the band’s website.
