Following the first day of Daze Between New Orleans festival on May 2nd, a number of talented performers from the festival’s lineup and beyond will head over to The Howlin’ Wolf for a special Tuesday late-night show billed as Daze by Nite. Find ticketing information here.
The bill for Daze by Nite is anchored by a one-off funk supergroup featuring Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch and Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno alongside Dumpstaphunk‘s Nick Daniels (bass, vocals) and Ian Neville (guitar), Lawrence‘s brother-sister duo of Clyde Lawrence (keys, vocals) and Gracie Lawrence (vocals), and the three-piece Lawrence horn section of Jordan Cohen (tenor saxophone), Sumner Becker (alto saxophone), and Marc Langer (trumpet). Fast-rising CT jam-rock quartet Eggy will kick off the night with a full set, which will serve as the band’s first-ever performance in New Orleans.
The headlining supergroup represents the intersection of numerous collaborative threads. Eric Krasno and Adam Deitch have been creating together for three decades, first as co-founding members of Lettuce and later with a variety of assorted projects. One of those continuing collaborations, Jazz Fest tradition Dr. Klaw, features fellow Daze by Nite participants Ian Neville and Nick Daniels, who will round out the quartet at the core of the band on May 2nd.
Clyde, Gracie, and the Lawrence Horns may be newcomers to this particular mix, but they’re well-acquainted with Krasno, who produced the upstart NYC soul-pop band’s lauded 2016 debut LP, Breakfast. Together, this interconnected “Dr. Klawrence” ensemble promises to deliver an unforgettable funk dance party during the “Daze Between” Jazz Fest weekends at The Howlin’ Wolf.
Daze by Nite at The Howlin’ Wolf will take place after day one of Daze Between New Orleans festival at Faubourg Brewery on Tuesday, May 2nd, where Lawrence is among the scheduled performers alongside Goose, Tank and the Bangas, Melt, J & The Causeways, and The Quickening. The following day, Wednesday, May 3rd, Daze Between New Orleans will return to Faubourg Brewery for another full day of music featuring Goose, Eggy, David Shaw, Neal Francis, George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners, and Honey Island Swamp Band. Single-day and two-day passes for Daze Between New Orleans on May 2nd and 3rd are on sale now.
