Globetrotting DJ, producer, and multi-instrumentalist LP Giobbi will bring her Dead House project to The Civic Theatre in New Orleans for an electronic Grateful Dead dance party on April 27th, corresponding with the first Saturday of Jazz Fest 2024 [ticketing info].

Born and raised by Deadhead parents in Eugene, OR, Giobbi began her music career as a pianist before stumbling upon the world of electronic music. When she began playing DJ sets in her parents’ vintage Grateful Dead tees, she was surprised to discover a significant overlap between the EDM and Deadhead communities. A friend then gave her some stems—individuated instrument and vocal tracks—from Grateful Dead recordings, which she began incorporating into mixes during her popular Dead House livestreams on Twitch.

After generating buzz with a live Dead House DJ set during Dead & Company’s Playing In The Sand destination event in 2023, Giobbi released Garcia (Remixed), a collection of dance remixes of the eight tracks on Jerry Garcia‘s 1972 solo album in celebration of its 50th anniversary. From there, she took Dead House on the road, following along with Dead & Company’s The Final Tour and hosting Dead House after-parties in cities around the country. Most recently, she reprised her Grateful Dead remix project for a Dead House set during January 2024’s Dead Ahead Festival in Mexico.

Among those Dead House late-nights was a sold-out performance at New Orleans, LA’s The Howlin’ Wolf following Dead & Co’s headlining set at Jazz Fest 2023. This year, LP Giobbi will bring Dead House back to the Big Easy during Jazz Fest to help the kids dance and shake their bones with a bigger, better, more Grateful jubilee at the historic Civic Theatre, one of the city’s most storied venues.
