On Saturday, April 27th (technically early-a.m. 4/28), Galactic drummer Stanton Moore will head to New Orleans, LA’s Toulouse Theatre to anchor a special New Orleans edition of The Funk Sessions, Live For Live Music‘s long-running series of funk blowouts featuring well-known players from around the country.
For the latest edition of the series, which originated in Denver, CO in early 2019, Stanton will be joined by Skerik, the enigmatic saxophonist known for his roles in Les Claypool projects like the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade; Nels Cline, the eclectic guitarist for Wilco; and Wil Blades, the revered organist out of San Francisco well-known to the Jazz Fest late-night crowd. This will mark the third time The Funk Sessions has made the trip from The Mile High City to the Big Easy during Jazz Fest.

The Funk Sessions at Toulouse Theatre on Saturday, April 27th (early-a.m. 4/28) is part of Live For Live Music’s 2024 Fest by Nite series in New Orleans during Jazz Fest. In addition to The Funk Sessions, Stanton Moore will take part in two other Fest by Nite events at Toulouse Theatre including Freqinauts (a long-running staple during the “daze between” Fair Grounds weekends featuring Big Chief Donald Harrison Jr., Galactic bassist Rob Mercurio, globetrotting Roger Waters/Mike Gordon organist Robert Walter, and frequent Moore collaborator Will Bernard on guitar) on Monday, April 29th and Stanton & Friends (a one-off supergroup featuring Robert Walter (organ), Skerik (saxophone), Will Bernard (guitar), and local favorite Big Sam (trombone) on Thursday, May 2nd (early-a.m. 5/3).
