The latest installment in the Grateful Dead‘s “All The Years Live” video series is available now on the band’s YouTube channel. The new archive release comes from 1977’s The Grateful Dead Movie, directed by Jerry Garcia, which chronicles the group’s five-night run at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom just before they took a two-year hiatus from touring. This October 19, 1974 version of “Truckin'” shows the band firing on all cylinders just before they went out on top, as well as documents the ecosystem of camaraderie that occurred out on the sidewalk before the show.
As Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux notes in the video’s description,
From the penultimate show before the Dead’s nearly two year touring hiatus, this version of Truckin’ was a highlight of the Grateful Dead Movie, for both its strong performance with its climactic, explosive ending, but also for the wonderful fan and Dead Head scene intercuts throughout. A top notch rendition.
